Class: Sports to Art

Finding Art in Sports Photography Before You Hit Delete

Just because some of your sports/action shots may be a little soft, or out of focus, or just plain not very exciting is no cause to delete them. These shots, or at least part of them, can be saved and turned in to quite an interesting image. Come out and see how John Renard does it.

John, great job, you made it easy to follow and understand. Bringing the art work and the photos on the screen were a great touch.
    Thank you

Good job, John. We can apply what you showed to any type of photo. Thanks!

Really good class. John did an excellent job, and it was very helpful to see his photography on the screen and in person as he spoke about the different ways in which to view one's photos to bring out that one special characteristic to highlight in post processing. Great job, John.

I am hoping to make it. Had a last minute meeting scheduled at the hospital, so it is iffy now, but it is a class I really want to be at. Will the information be available to members any other way?

Going to try to make the meeting Monday night. Husband scheduled for surgery Tuesday so it's iffy but I have so many sports pix I'd love to get some ideas of how to use them before I delete most of them and then kick myself!

Yes, Sandy, you'll be able to submit photos to the competition. The only requirement is that you must be a member, so if you join on Monday...
    Good luck!

I'm planning on joining when I come to the 4/21 class. Will I be able to enter any photos for the competition the next night?

John, looking like fun time to learn.

Just some poor photographer with limited knowledge - that's the bad news. The good news is that, hopefully, I can show everyone some stuff with changes mediocre shots into something pretty cool, without a ton a technical know-how. You really don't have to be a wiz at photoshop or lightroom, you just have to be able to look at you shots in a completely different way.

I thought I'd included the instructor's name, but apparently it didn't make it into the description. John Renard is doing this one.

Looking forward to the April meeting. Not much in to sports, but I do take a lot of photographs of bands, which are still action shots. :)
