Class: Lightroom — Develop & Beyond

Now that we had a look at organizing our images, it's time to get familiar with processing them. We'll do some hands-on work with supplied images to bring out their full potential. Learn about each of the panes within Develop as well as each of the tools. Discover when it's time to go from Lightroom to Photoshop or Elements. If there is time, we'll take a look at outputting those images to print. Bring your laptop with Lightroom installed. Lynn will send images to each of you a day or two before class.

If I went too fast, I apologize. I kept asking if anyone had questions and when no one had any, I assumed you were all on track. I've typed up every step I did in class and included pictures so you can go over it at your leisure. Go to http://www.meetup.com/York-County-Camera-Club/files/ to download the file Find the file (LR Develop). If you have any questions, email me and i'll try to help.

I found this group while searching for a lightroom class in or near York. I see that the group is one class down and the next one is on 16 June? Is it too late to join the class? What is the fee?

It's not too late to join this class. You may attend two club meetings with no fee after that you must join to attend.

I appreciate the info Lynn. I didn't want to waste the time allotment for the trial period before hand.
    Thanks again for your help.

If you don't think that you will want to purchase Lightroom, I would wait until a few days before the session to download the trial version. It might be good to upload a few of your photos to it to get somewhat familiar with the interface, but it won't be necessary.
Lightroom is an integral part of a lot of photographers' workflow. You can do almost everything necessary to get your photos looking great. There are a few limitations, but this program is very powerful. I have used Photoshop since around 1998 for all my photo processing until Lightroom entered the picture. Now I use it only for the few things I can't do in LR. Elements is a cheaper alternative that may fit your needs well.

Ditch, the last class on LR was basically an overview with the emphasis on the Library module, the place where you organize everything. For this session, I will provide everyone with images to use and we will go through "processing" those images, taking them from the raw, somewhat boring version to the finished image.

    1. Since this class is not until June 16th, should I wait to download the 30-day trial version of Lightroom until just before this class? (Like two or three days ahead?)

    2. I also noticed that there was a previous class on Lightroom back in February. Was there information in that class that would be necessary to know for the upcoming class? Or were there notes/handouts on that class? Any info would be appreciated.

    Thank you!
