Welcome to the York Outdoor Adventurers (YOA) meetup!
We welcome all outdoor enthusiasts: young or old, new to PA or longtime resident, single or married, with or without children; you get the idea. We will try to find activities that meet your interests and needs or connect you with others with similar interests. Please take a moment to update your Outdoor Adventurers profile, post your picture and let us know what your favorite outdoor activities are.
We do a wide variety of activities and are outside no matter what the season. In the years since this group's inception, many new meetup groups have started in the area and each group fits a different need and niche. One of the goals of the YOA is to help you explore new activities and have new friends join you as you do your favorite things. Please take advantage of the message boards, email a member and greetings features on the meetup site.
The message boards for this group allow you to post events you are interested in attending, even if they are not "official" events. This is a space for you to post an activity you plan on doing and would like some friends to join you. We have a thread on event ideas and suggestions that we actually use to plan events. There is also some information on equipment as well as general topics of interest to the group. I will occasionally go through the message board and delete posts for outdated events to help keep the size of the board managable and the content relevant.
As your organizer, I will try to answer any communications sent to me quickly. Unless there are significant extenuating circumstances, the max time for a reply will be 72 hours. If you have questions regarding a specific event, please make sure to email the person who is actually organizing that event as tehy have the best information on that activity. Also, if you post a question in your RSVP or in the comments section of an event, please check back to the event page often as we will answer "publicly" posed questions in a public forum (let's the whole group not only know the answer, but know that we are not ignoring you!).
Meetup.com does charge a fee to organizers for the use of the website. Members who attend events will be asked to help defray this cost. For most events, there will be a $1 fee per person. For the most active members of the group, there is an annual membership option of $10 (runs Jan-Dec). Any monies collected in excess of the meetup.com charges will be used for the group, generally to help pay for firewood, food or paper goods at some of our events.
Now let's get outside and have some fun!
