UPDATE: 9 October
It looks like there is some interest in this idea, so I will go 'round and chat up the neighbors over the next few weeks to make sure it's all right to bring a group hike on the trails on their properties. Will update this post again closer to the end of the year with the specifics and add the location. Would like to make this a weekly event throughout the winter. Thanks, Andy
Cooler weather has me looking ahead to "what do we do to get outside" when winter is here? I'm too old to take up snowboarding, so here's my proposal.
Sunday Morning Hill Walks - Gather at our farm near Glen Rock, PA and take a hike up in the hills and valleys on ours and adjacent properties. There are approx 8 miles of quiet and remote trails on several hundred acres of private land that we can use. Our dogs, Maddie and Sally LOVE to go for trail walks already so this is something we already do on a regular basis. Bring your own dog (non-agressive and comes when you call them) if you would like to. Only other pre-requisites would be a walking stick and a pair of sturdy shoes (trails are a bit rocky at times). I'd imagine starting these walks around 9 AM and they'd last about 1-1/2 to 2 hours max. We would not be able to walk all of the trails on any particular Sunday. We'll suit the pace to the group that assembles. You WILL get some exercise on this trek no matter what the pace is!
If you think you'd be interested, please respond and I'll work out the details and get them published between now and the end of the year.
