This unique festival is known as one of Calgary’s best festivals for its assortment of entertainment, food, and shopping. The streets are closed to traffic for the day and the roads lined with approximately 170 vendors & artisans selling an eclectic mix of products and services for the day.
Kensington - Calgary’s ‘Village in the City’ - invites you to participate in the Salsa Tasting Contest. Kensington businesses will serve up over 500 gallons of 25 different salsas. You get to be the judge. Purchase a bag of chips from our Charities for $3 or 2 for $5, and taste test your way through all the spicy salsa recipes served up by teams of Kensington businesses. Our Charities will also be selling water for $2.
This annual family event takes place along Kensington Road and 10th Street NW. Eight live entertainment stages each feature fantastic performances. They have a diverse selection of entertainment so whether you want to dance and watch some b-boy battles, or watch some exotic cultural dancing, see some crazy and daring street performers, jump on a bike and help power one of stages, or just chill out watching a band you’re sure to be entertained.
The Kids Zone is filled with fun things for the family. From hula-hoop making, maraca making, playing fun games, to our cupcake walk (featuring Crave Cupcakes) there are tons of things for kids to do.
After you’ve sampled all the salsa you can eat, sit and enjoy some drinks and sun on one of the 11 extended patios on the street. Plus, all your favorite Kensington businesses will be open for shopping and the streets will be filled with vendors & artisans with tons of cool things to buy.
Both Kensington Road and 10th Street will be closed for the day. There’s an LRT stop (Sunnyside) right at the Kensington Safeway, so public transit is a great way to beat the crowds. Bike down and use the Good Life Bike valet bike parking at Ant Hill parking lot and know your bike is safe while you wander around.
