This is a social group targeted at African Americans between the ages of 21 and 40 interested in musicals, operas, ballet, symphonies, theater, and other performing arts. This is a way for us to view an event and meet others with similar interests. This is also for people who just want a change of scenery.
Houston has many choices for artistic performances and there are many people who are interested in learning, attending, socializing, and just enjoying the many events.
The goal of the group is to meet once every 1-2 months for dinner and/or mixer followed by events such as: Circus de Soleil, Aida, a visiting Broadway musical, The Nutcracker, an Alvin Ailey type performance, Symphony in the Park, etc. We will also do events with other social groups. We will look to have black tie events, cocktail socials, and events where business casual is acceptable. But more importantly, this will not be a stuffy group.
You don't need any prior experience or art exposure to join this group or attend events. You don't need to understand the foreign language of an opera and can read the subtitles like the rest of us. Both singles and couples are welcome. This is just a place for us to meet and attend the events on the same day so we can meet some interesting people.
