We are going to attempt to have a meet-up at the fireworks! This is going to require some specific and organized planning, but we're going to try our best.
For those who have not been before, this fireworks competition brings out hundred of thousands of people each year to Downtown Vancouver and the Downtown core pretty much shuts down when it is on. The best way to watch it is on the beach... this makes it difficult to reserve a good spot since everyone else is fighting for every inch of empty sand space.
SO, Nancy and I will be committing to coming early (around noon) to get a good spot for everyone. If anyone else wants to come join us early, you are more than welcome to! It will be much easier to reserve a big spot with more people helping us ;)
To make it easy to spot us, we will have a helium balloon (will let you know what the balloon will be on the day of) so just look out for the balloon and that is where we will be located. Also, we will update the meetup comments as to where on the beach we will be so it will be easier to know where to go to see our balloon.
We will bring board games, some snacks, music and blankets to lay on. You may want to bring some snacks and blankets as well, and welcome to bring any games you will like to play too.
There are a lot of restaurants nearby to grab some lunch or dinner.
Driving is not recommended, but if you do prefer to drive down, probably the best way is to park somewhere on the south side of Burrard Bridge and walk over.
We are setting it up for the second weekend of the fireworks which is on Saturday, August 2 and the country performing is Japan.
