Crowdfunding is not just about new music and iPhone apps, it can also be creating a better future for your community! Tom Dawkins is the cofounder of social change crowdfunding site StartSomeGood.com and will share his insights into the principles and practice of crowdfunding, including how to pick the right crowdfunding platform for your project, designing great rewards, setting goals and marketing, everything you need to know to succeed.

About the Presenter:

For over 15 years, Tom Dawkins has been exploring how technology and culture can be harnessed as tools to create a more democratic and participatory society. Tom is the co-founder of crowdfunding platform StartSomeGood.com, which supports social entrepreneurs in raising the funds they need and mobilising the community to make a difference. Tom has founded several nonprofits, including Vibewire. He founded Vibewire in 2000 and served as its CEO until 2008. He has also led numerous other successful projects such as sQuareOne, the first social innovation focused co-working space in Sydney. From 2008 to 2010, Tom served as the first Social Media Director at Ashoka: Innovators for the Public, in Washington DC, helping numerous programs and country offices incorporate social technologies into their work. While there, he grew Ashoka’s Twitter following to over 300, 000 and launched one of the first Twitter chats. Tom recently moved back to Australia after four years in the US.
