The votes are in, and the California-set book coming in with the most is "Cloud Atlas" by David Mitchell! The venue this time around will be Anepalco's Cafe, which has a solid 4 stars on Yelp.
During the event, we'll eat some tasty food and go through discussion questions on the book, which I'll send out a day or two before we meet.
For our June/July event, the genre will be science fiction. Feel free to send suggestions for the science fiction book you want to read, or bring them to the Meetup. I'll set up a poll after the event so we can decide which book to delve into.
Back to our California selection, though. Here's a description of "Cloud Atlas" from Amazon.com:
“A postmodern visionary and one of the leading voices in twenty-first-century fiction, David Mitchell combines flat-out adventure, a Nabokovian love of puzzles, a keen eye for character, and a taste for mind-bending, philosophical and scientific speculation in the tradition of Umberto Eco, Haruki Murakami, and Philip K. Dick. The result is brilliantly original fiction as profound as it is playful. In this groundbreaking novel, an influential favorite among a new generation of writers, Mitchell explores with daring artistry fundamental questions of reality and identity."
The attendance policy will be in place for this event. Hope you can make it!
