Potluck and Outdoor Activities

  • Turtle Rock Community Park

  • So once again, I'm single during the 4th of July weekend and have no plans so I guess I'm making some...with you guys. Let's have a potluck and then get out of our nerdy shells and break a sweat. This thing is usually complex and a lot of work so I've asked a bunch of people to help host. Hopefully an AO will step in to be the lead host and then I (and anyone else willing) will just help out. I shamelessly stole the text below from James (with permission). I'm just following his format and extending his legacy.

ARRIVE WHEN YOU CAN! The food starts cooking about 5:00. The park has tennis courts, a sand volleyball court and lots of grass. A beginner-level, out-and-back hike, will easily fit into the afternoon after we eat, if anyone is interested.

What to sign up to bring:

    Burgers and buns
    Hot dogs and buns
    Bratwurst
    Macaroni salad
    Potato salad
5 medium or large ice chests
    Chips
    Ice
Cheeses, lettuce, tomatoes, onions (ready to serve)
    Sodas
Plates, napkins, utensils - extra forks
    Condiments (mayo, ketchup, mustard, relish)
    Water
    Cookies
    Cupcakes
    WHAT NOT TO BRING:

Food that takes a long time to cook, such as chicken
Food that is difficult to keep fresh, such as tacos
Food that is difficult or challenging to eat/serve
Raw food that needs to be cooked but cannot easily be cooked on a charcoal grill
Games that require electricity, such as console video games
    A bad attitude
    IF YOU RSVP YES,
    LIST WHAT YOU'RE BRINGING.

Bring balls, Frisbees - well, sporting equipment. Feel free to bring board or card games, too - we are nerds, after all.
