Hi fellow nerds,
After some incidents at OC Young, Fun and Nerdy events where people have RSVP'd 'Yes' and then not shown up, the organizers of the group met to come up with an attendance policy. We want you to have the most fun possible as a member of this group, but people who don't honor their RSVP's can make the experience less enjoyable and cause stress, especially in cases where an event has a waiting list or a reservation has been made at a restaurant.
When working on the guidelines, we tried to be as fair as possible to all group members, understanding that unexpected things do come up from time to time. Here is the policy that we came up with, which will now be in effect:
- After a member flakes out on three events (i.e., RSVP's 'Yes' for each event but does not show up), he or she will be removed from the OC Young, Fun and Nerdy Meetup. However, only events where the organizer states in the event description that the flake policy applies will be counted toward these three strikes. For example, if Nerd A RSVP's 'Yes' for four events and doesn't show up to any of them (how sad!), but only two of the events have stated in their descriptions that the policy applies, Nerd A will have two strikes.
- Each organizer will use his or her own discretion as to which events will be included as part of the attendance policy. Examples of events that will most likely count toward the policy include those where people are signed up on the waiting list for the event, Meetups that take place at restaurants where the organizer has made a reservation for a specific number of people, and events that rely on each attendee to bring a specific item to contribute to the event (e.g., food, drinks, a DVD, etc.).
If you have any questions/comments/concerns about the policy, please let us know. This group wouldn't be possible without all of you, so your input is much appreciated. Thanks!
-Your Organizers ('Nerdganizers')
