Let's Discuss Looking for Alaska!

In May, we will be reading Looking for Alaska by John Green!

Winner of the Michael L. Printz Award An ALA Best Book for Young Adults An ALA Quick Pick A Los Angeles Times 2005 Book Prize Finalist A New York Public Library Book for the Teen Age A 2005 Booklist Editor’s Choice A 2005 School Library Journal Best Book of the Year Before. Miles “Pudge” Halter is done with his safe life at home. His whole life has been one big non-event, and his obsession with famous last words has only made him crave “the Great Perhaps” even more (Francois Rabelais, poet). He heads off to the sometimes crazy and anything-but-boring world of Culver Creek Boarding School, and his life becomes the opposite of safe. Because down the hall is Alaska Young. The gorgeous, clever, funny, sexy, self-destructive, screwed up, and utterly fascinating Alaska Young. She is an event unto herself. She pulls Pudge into her world, launches him into the Great Perhaps, and steals his heart. Then. . . . After. Nothing is ever the same.

Hi! I've actually never gone to a meetup of any kind but would really like to come. I've reading Looking for Alaska before and I'm just really interested in talking with and meeting new people. Is there anything I should know before coming? (Also, I don't have my copy of the book with me)

No need to have a copy of the book! I will post the location where we are sitting when I get to the Atrium!

Wish I didn't have to miss this. As I was reading, I realized that I had read it before (before I went to boarding school, I soaked up all YA novels that had their protags going there). Still, I didn't directly remember everything, so it was new and familiar all at once. Also, I finally read Fault in Our Stars, and I think I could marry John Green tomorrow. Alas, I have a final that night so I'll have to be doing that instead of talking with all of you! I sense there will be a great discussion on this one.

Now that I've rambled long enough, I do have a real question. Any chance the June poll will be going up soon? Looking forward to scoping out the new selections!

    DFTBA!!
