Book Club - April

Let's meet and discuss Orange is the New Black by Piper Kerman. I've been wanting to watch the Netflix TV series for awhile, but have been insisting that I'll read the book first, so let's give it try.  The library has a few different versions, and their are holds on the copies, but I think you'd be able to get a copy from them.  Powell's has lots of them as well.

Here's what Amazon has to say about the book:
With a career, a boyfriend, and a loving family, Piper Kerman barely resembles the reckless young woman who delivered a suitcase of drug money ten years before. But that past has caught up with her. Convicted and sentenced to fifteen months at the infamous federal correctional facility in Danbury, Connecticut, the well-heeled Smith College alumna is now inmate #11187–424—one of the millions of people who disappear “down the rabbit hole” of the American penal system. From her first strip search to her final release, Kerman learns to navigate this strange world with its strictly enforced codes of behavior and arbitrary rules. She meets women from all walks of life, who surprise her with small tokens of generosity, hard words of wisdom, and simple acts of acceptance. Heartbreaking, hilarious, and at times enraging, Kerman’s story offers a rare look into the lives of women in prison—why it is we lock so many away and what happens to them when they’re there.!

Hi Danina - I'm not sure yet, I'll post it as a new event in the next day or two. I send an email announcing it, but whether you get it depends on your group settings and will let people know with another comment on this month.

Do you know what the parking situation is like at the Lucky Lab? I'm trying to figure out if I should drive, or take the bus.

You have better luck with street parking. Even that can get packed. If you don't mind walking a couple blocks to park, then you should be fine.

I'm too late for the April book club, but I was wondering if there will be a May book club. If so, when do you choose the book for the month?
