For all you girls who love spending time outdoors in our beautiful city! I would love to go on a hike in Forest park. It is super easy to get to from downtown.

Meeting Place: International Test Rose Garden (NOT THE ROSE GARDEN ARENA). If people would like to meet at a break fast place first we can do that as well (like we did for the last hike). We will start the hike at 8:30 am. If people would rather do lunch that's fine with me too!

Hike Type: Rose Garden, walk around rose garden, and up to pittock mansion.

Distance: 5 miles

Elevation gain: about 1,000 feet

Difficulty: Moderate (see the map my ride link above to see the elevation characteristics). We will be shooting for 20 min miles, which is a healthy leisurely pace. Last time we didn't stop to often and people did make the slights climbs with good gusto.

This was my first meet up and I had so much fun! It was way better than I had hoped. The hike was awesome and the company was outstanding. Wish I had joined earlier. Thanks for the fun morning ladies!

Payal, thank you again for organizing the hike, it was a lot of fun! Sorry again for having to duck out early at brunch. I really enjoyed meeting everyone and I hope to see you all again at one of these events in the future :-)

Susan that's what I was thinking! The metal slab water feature thingy is where we should meet!

Thanks Jessica! I new I had run that trail a few times! Yes, I went the same way you did. The internet is a weird place, but I figured since I didn't have time to run it again I'd play it safe I also didn't want to get people lost or tell them it was shorter than it was. :P Maybe we can do that longer hike in the future.

Hey! Since the Rose Garden is kind of big, maybe we should pick someplace to meet? Like... That fountain with the rectangular slabs of whatever near the middle?

Actually, I do that hike all the time. Start at Lower McLeay, hike to Pittock, through Arboretum, Rose Garden and then walk through NW back to car. It's about 6.8 miles and takes 2 hours and 15 minutes at a moderate pace.

p.s. We are starting at the Rose Garden and hiking up to Pittock. Lower McKleay to Rose Garden is quite far about 9 miles one way!

I need to start the hike by 8:30am. So breakfast would be before that.

What time would we leave if we couldn't meet for breakfast?

Hiyo Marcell, yes sorry about the back and forth. Just trying to figure out why lower McKleay to Pittock is considered 5 as is Lower McKleay to Rose garden (when's is clearly about double the walk!) I would prefer to avoid a 10 mile hike one way. I may change it to NW 23rd to Rose Garden up to Pittock. Or some variation of that to keep it to approximately 5 miles. My maps are in a box since I'm looking to move so I am at the mercy of online parks and rec maps which SUCK!

Hi, I would like to join the hike with my little dog, Puff, but I am wondering since there has some back and forth where it will begin and how long it the trail?

In fact, I may run it next week just to double check the distance. I remember doing this whole loop to the rose garden and I recall it being pretty long...so there may be changes. Make sure to check back!

Hi Elizabeth, I wouldn't recommend it. Although the trail is kid friendly unless your kids can hike long distances they may not enjoy it. I need to double check on the mileage, we did lower McKleay to Pittock last week and it said it was 5 miles. This hike was also posted as 5 miles, but we pass pittock manion to get to the rose garden, so I imagine it's more like 7 one way. So total might be closer to 12/13 miles. You may want to check out the trail first.

OK to bring kids? (7 and 10 yo)

Still working out the kinks, may start at another trail head, since the route to the rose garden from McKleay is pretty long.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
