First Service Event - Eastern Illinois Foodbank

We will be having our first service event at Eastern Illinois Foodbank. It will be a "food repack," so we will be doing some physical labor as a group! Please come and get to know other group members better outside of our monthly socials AND do some good for the community!

Please only sign up if you can guarantee your attendance. Once we approach the date, I will send out the Foodbank's additional guidelines (like no open-toed shoes).

I should be making the next event. I had babysitting duty for my son today :) Good luck guys!

Sam and Nathaniel - please let me know by sometime tomorrow if you plan on attending. Otherwise, we are no longer accepting additional volunteers - apparently the repacking area at the foodbank has limited space and we have achieved the maximum number of volunteers.

To those already signed up - thank you and see you next Tuesday.

To anyone who intended to sign up, but hadn't gotten around to it yet - I am sorry, and please keep a look out for next month's volunteer event.

I would probably need to leave by about 7 or shortly thereafter. Would that be okay, or would it ruin the process?

Good question - I think that would be fine.

There will be 14 of us total. One more thing - please register online for the foodbank's liability waiver here: Looking forward to seeing you there!

    - If you show any signs of cold, flu or sickness please abstain from repackaging food.
    - Please wear closed-toed shoes and remove all jewelry. To comply with food safety standards any volunteer not wearing closed-toed shoes will not be able to repack.
    - If you have any food allergies please check with Kristen ([masked]) as to what will be repacked.
    - Please arrive no later than 5:40pm. Explaining repack instructions to one full group is easier on us and decreases the likelihood of inventory errors.
    - If you are dropping someone off at a repack please be prepared to pick them up early in case the repack wraps up early.
    - No food or drink is allowed in the warehouse/repack room. EIF has a break room where water is available. We know it’s tempting but please do not eat the food being repacked – it’s against food safety guidelines.
