</a><a href="http://www.recreation.gov/recreationalAreaDetails.do?contractCode=NRSO&facilityId=248776&agencyCode=70903">Packsaddle Campground, California

Packsaddle Campground is surrounded by pine and fir trees with a view of the Sierra Buttes and alpine lakes. Views of open meadows with wildflowers overlooking a ravine with mountains in the background. Views of granitic ridges and glacially serrated rock outcroppings. Campground has corrals and space for stock trailers.

Sierra Buttes is the dominant peak in the Lake Basin area of northern Sierra Nevada. There is nothing higher north until Lassen Peak and south until Mount Lola. It is a craggy peak of volcanic origin, with lots of spectacular pinnacles on top. Once you get through the switchbacks near the top, be sure to go towards the cliff to see a view of the valley and 4 lakes (Young America, Upper Sardine, Lower Sardine, and Sand Pond).

Hi Everyone!!! It's so close. Ok so i think we should not leave any cars at Target over night (I'm sure we were all thinking that). If you are Carpooling make plans with your driver before we meet at the Target. YES! WE'LL STILL MEET AT TARGET (ON MADISON AND 80). I want to get everyone on the road at the same time because we'll most likely lose service once we get there and I don't want to deal with it. ;)

    -------------------------------------------------------

    CARS SO FAR:
    Kate (Driver)
    Heather
    Danielle
    Dan Mike (Driver)

    Plus 1 dog

    Kevin (Driver)

    ----------
Jessica & Julie - Have you two discussed rides? We should try to fit you in with another car unless one of you wants to drive.

My car will be squishy with 3 people's gear unless someone wants to train my dog with the leash on in the backseat. She is a spaz in the car.

I ADDED A LOT OF INFO UP TOP!!! PLEASE READ: As far as food (Dinner) I figured we could all pitch in for BBQ items. Is this OK with everyone? If anyone has a BBQ please let me know, so we don't have to count on ones at the camp ground. I've put together a list of items we'll need as a group. Please take a look and comment on here what you'd like to be responsible for. 15 people!!!

Heather, that's awesome! I'll tell Tony and his +1 to get firewood from the campsite. I saw on the website that they do sell it there :) Thank you for the tip <3

I will bring a small charcoal grill and charcoal as a backup or for additional use. It is cold at night! Bring a beanie!

Another side note... of course it doesn't hurt to bring firewood, but you should be able to find most of your kindling and firewood by just walking around the forest surrounding the campsite

I am not sure if I will be able to make it to the hike afterall. It all depends if my best friend decides to have her baby this weekend. Also as a side note... having grown up in Sierra City my whole life.... I can not stress enough to bring plenty of warm clothes and extra blankets for at night. Although it will be lovely during the day... it will be very cold at night. They should have bear boxes in all the camp sites, but the bears and raccoons will eat ANY and ALL food that is left out in the open.

Hope you all enjoy my beautiful hometown :)

Today we aquired 4 campsites at PackSaddle campground. Sites 7, 8, 9 & 10. That means four people to each campground and up to two vehicles. If possible I'd love to have us carpool and only need one vehicle per campsite. Is everyone ok with this?

I will do campsite assignments once we get a little closer and have all the RSVPs accurate.

    Hey Erin and Tim Bacon,

To go on this camping trip, you are required to have been on two hikes previous to the camping trip. I have missed out on the last few hikes, so I am not exactly sure if you have met this requirement, but if not, can you please change your RSVP to no so that others who have met the requirements can go. Thank you and I am sorry, but these are the rules for our camping trips. It is denoted in the description of the trip.

I grew up here! My sister lives in Sierra City just a few miles from the trail. You can actually see the Buttes from her back yard! I don't need to camp, but would really like to hike with the group. I've lived there for 20 years and have yet to hike the Buttes :)

I just saw this, so you can ignore my post to you and Tim, but can you still unRSVP so that we have the camping spot free'd up... And I will make sure that it is denoted that will attend the hikes :)
