MAY: THIS SONG WILL SAVE YOUR LIFE by Leila Sales

Combining the love for music we covered in Eleanor & Park with the outcast feeling of FanGirl and the feels of a John Green novel and we end up with This Song Will Save Your Life by Leila Sales as our May selection.  (Poll winner & Vote winner in April meeting)

Making friends has never been Elise Dembowski’s strong suit. All throughout her life, she’s been the butt of every joke and the outsider in every conversation. When a final attempt at popularity fails, Elise nearly gives up. Then she stumbles upon a warehouse party where she meets Vicky, a girl in a band who accepts her; Char, a cute, yet mysterious disc jockey; Pippa, a carefree spirit from England; and most importantly, a love for DJing.

Told in a refreshingly genuine and laugh-out-loud funny voice, THIS SONG WILL SAVE YOUR LIFE is an exuberant novel about identity, friendship, and the power of music to bring people together.

Note - a reminder to please change your RSVP if you don't think you'll be able to make it - last month we had a record number of No Shows and had people on the waiting list who could have come.

I'm taking suggestions for books for the fall - add your thoughts on the discussion board or email me or leave a comment.

So sad I can't make it tomorrow, I loved the book. It was sad and triumphant and I'm sure the next month I'll want a quick tiny chat and this and last months book, bc I have enjoyed both. Can't wait to start the summer series!!!

Ok looks like the majority of people who did vote in poll prefer to keep it on the 14th. Becky will lead and Amanda can help so you guys are in good hands and I'll see you in June.
