September Book Discussion - When You Reach Me by Rebecca Stead

When You Reach Me by Rebecca Stead is the winner of September's Poll with 50% of the vote as of Aug 20.

Set in New York in the late 70s, where our heroine Miranda reads A Wrinkle in Time and helps her mother prepare to be on the $20,000 Pyramid Game show. Odd things start to happen and mysterious notes appear and we are along for the ride as Miranda solves the puzzle.

I've added the book to our goodreads group if you want to follow along there as well.

Arrive early to grab a snack or a drink and visit with the group. Our discussion will start promptly at 7:30 and we'll wrap it up at 9:00.

Looking forward to seeing you then.

Took me forever to find it at b&n. Apparently it is in the children's Now to read it! * crosses fingers it's good*

I hope you do too, Ravyn. I know for me (and probably a few of the older members of the group) the nostalgia of growing up in the late 70s and loving Wrinkle in Time will pull us in. I hope you can find something to love in the relationship between Miranda and Sal, or the mystery itself. It's a Newberry Award winner (among others) so it should at least be well written ;) (and it should mean the library and maybe half-price will have it in stock) I got mine at Book People last week (it's on a special award winner shelf just as you come upstairs)
