November YA Book Discussion - The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian

The Absolutely True Diary of a Part Time Indian by Sherman Alexie tied for November's Poll with 36% of the vote.. We had a tie-breaking vote in person in the September meeting, and it must be fate that a book about Indians is the selection for the month that includes Thanksgiving.

Junior is a Spokane Indian who lives on the reservation, but decides to attend the all white school (which has an Indian Mascot, wouldn't you know) A cartoonist, a dork, a basketball player, Junior is based loosely on the author's own childhood and his struggle to find where he fits in.

Arrive early to grab a snack or a drink and visit with the group. Our discussion will start promptly at 7:30 and we'll wrap it up at 9:00.

Looking forward to seeing you then.

Please remember to make suggestions for future books or bring ideas to the meeting.

I was SO sad I couldn't go! My son had a doctor's appointment last minute. I'm so interested in what everyone thought of the book! I totally loved it. Didn't think I would, but I did. :) I'll see you guys in December for sure!
