Prekayaking/Precanoeing

Launch from King's Landing (Rock Springs) to Wekiva Island for an 8.5-mile kayak trip downstream, about a 4-hour trip.

Wekiva Island has food, beer, wine, and soda (or pop for those that prefer) but bring snacks and water for the trip.

A much shorter kayak trip starts at 1:00 p.m. Do one or both or none :-)

Suggestions of items to bring:

• Cash
• Water
• Snacks/Lunch
• Dry bag
• Swimsuit and towel
• Bug spray and sunscreen
• Binoculars
• Camera

I called KL and let them know we are coming.. and to expect 17-20. If you're REALLY wanting a kayak, I would rec to get there extra early, as they tend to run out and only have canoes after that. Also, if your bringing your own kayak, we can orgnagize our own shuttle to save $10/ person.
We would drop the boats off at the launch at KL, then all drive as a group to Wekiva Island to park the cars. We then would need a volunteer to drive everyone back to the launch, and one more person to to volunteer after the trip to bring the first driver back to their car.. it sounds confusing, but its quite easy.. Respond to this post if your inerested in doing our own shuttle, otherwise we can just each pay the $10 and have them drive us back to the lauch at the end.

Thank you, Brett. This is very helpful. I hope either the 4pm or 530 will have plenty of room for my boat without having to reserve. Can't wait :)! Thanks!

I have my kayak, but we have a Fit. it doesn't have a kayak rack. can I possibly have someone load my kayak on their car/truck/suv? I'll do either the long or short trip if someone can get my kayak there (and give gas $$)

Do they rent kayaks? And is everyone getting there at 8:00am to do the long kayak trip or are some doing the shorter 1:00 trip?
