Do you have "Nothing to hide?" That makes you one of many. But control on your personal life is increasing, and privacy is under attack.

In the spring of 2011 Dutch filmmaker Peter Vlemmix read an article about bodyscanners. He decided to embark on a search for the state of privacy in The Netherlands. And discovered that society is starting to show signs of a panopticon. But how does this exactly work, why are the once liberal Netherlands especially privacytroubled, and when will we all start to feel the consequences?

This event is free of charge.

Please make an effort to be on time. We endeavour to start by 7:15pm to leave enough time for a debate at the end of the movie. There will probably be live music after the screening.

Would it be possible to arrange a tutorial session to teach those interested (in tzm London & beyond) how to install and use alternative browsers, email accounts and software?
My IT skills are limited and i'd much appreciate assistance. I'm sure Passing Clouds would make a space available for our community to do this.

Very watchable and well put together doc. Well paced, so i could digest the many startling developments of invasive surveillance into all of our lives. From Supermarket loyalty cards, travelcards, CCTV to mobile phones and myriad ways of getting stuff onto our PC's to detect what info we're sending out. Much of this has always been openly carried out But RE: 'sensitive' info which we previously thought was subject to privacy protocols has been subject to the insidious creep of more ingenious ways of getting at it. Ways have developed to circumvent these and very often, even encryption isn't sufficient to keep the nosy parker's out!(cont..)

Impression is that most people accept this invasiveness because "they have nothing to hide" yet a question "why have curtains?" to some members of the public revealed to them just how important privacy is and as to why they should be concerned. I'm convinced that if a referendum was carried out in UK with all the facts/arguments presented (as in this doc) the result would be for at least a substantial reduction of the surveillance, if not an outright rejection - as they have in Germany; where they have historical experience of dictatorships, Gestapo, Stasi.

They know the dangers of data gathering, with potential abuse, ID errors, tech flaws. There seems poor prospects of a referendum for such huge surveillance which is deplorable for a so-called "democracy". Governments can change goalposts too and i remember when non-violent protesters around the time of Occupy St.Pauls, were labeled by Police as potential terrorists.

It's necessary to campaign hard for the rejection of the unnecessary surveillance, while no one is protesting the targeting of legitimate suspects of terrorism.

    Hello fellow Zeitgeisters!

I really need help with something and wondered if some of you could give some advice. I need to record noise nuisance from terrible anti-social neighbors that live downstairs and have been making my life an hell. Do you guys know any device strong enough to record very loud music from a neigbhour that lives below? The council services are hopeless on this and not to trust. I need to take my own action. Not only my privacy has been invaded but my life made a hell by these psychopaths...Please help!!!

Hi Lily! Thanks for this! I will check it out and see if is something affordable. The problem with this kind of equipment is that tends to be very expensive. I am aiming to take my own action as the council has showed to be hopeless with this. The other ideas about people to talk too are good! Thanks for your help! Cheers
