Clojure and Erlang (apples and oranges -- they both taste good)

At the next meetup Thomas and Lars will compare code in Erlang and Clojure.

The idea is to challenge Clojure with problems from the Erlang world and the other way around - this should hopefully bring about interesting insights about the strengths and weaknesses of both languages.

We plan to publish the code we create for the meetup on github as we go along (see below), so you can contribute with ideas, comments etc. if you feel like it!

Update: moved to the 5th of June!

Update - an extra presentation:

Agustin will present briefly about how erlang will be used to replace the current backend of the location-based mobile game Gbanga.

Cheers,

Lars

Ps. we now have a github account:

https://github.com/zurich-erlang-user-group (let me know if you want access - then you'll get it!)

and a google-groups mailing list:

http://groups.google.com/group/zurich-erlang-user-group?hl=de

I'll write a separate announcement about the github and the google-groups accounts.

Thanks for the great attendance and the great questions! You (audience) really gave me something to think about before and after the presentation, so it was a success for me ;)

The "Erlang in Gbanga" presentation really doesn't say anything without the explanations, I am ashamed to post them to the open world :p, but I can promise to do a "proper" presentation after the system goes to production :D.

It was a good start for getting us going. I find it important that someone with knowledge checks out alternatives to Erlang from time to time. We can relax in the meantime and continue to assume that Erlang is the best language (for our business).
    Thanks!

Very nice presentations comparing the strengths of Clojure and Erlang syntactic wise. It would be nice to have a presentation of building project A with tech X and same project in Erlang

Sorry @Andre but I came late and the talk already was proceeding, so I didn't recorded anything :(

I don't think it was recorded yesterday, but the slides for the Clojure vs. Erlang part (which I think are not worth a lot without the discussions) are available on github: https://github.com/zurich-erlang...

Thanks for a great meetup. As a speaker I think we had some good discussions - during and after ;) Thanks to Agustin for an interesting presentation about the Gbanga architecture!

I would love to record the session with my Sony PhotoCam at 720i. Would that be okay with the presenters? No idea how the light quality will turn out.
