Hello and Welcome Fellow Photography Enthusiasts!
ALL SKILL LEVELS ARE VERY WARMLY WELCOME!
Membership of our group is TOTALLY FREE OF CHARGE and ideal for all those of you who are passionate about photography and interested to learn and share techniques, knowledge and ideas through friendship.
Our group's motto is very simple and straight forward: Connecting People Through Photography.
Our regular members take our events seriously and enjoy having fun learning photographic trade-craft. We are very passionate about photography and an enthusiastic and fun group. All of us are helpful, interested to share our knowledge and give good advice to newcomers and existing members alike. We enjoy learning and sharing our experiences. We do not like jokers, troublemakers or people who only ever complain.
As the saying goes: “You get what you give”. What you put into our group is what you get out of it as well.
Just as you expect me to commit myself to organising interesting and fun events for you, I also expect you to commit a certain minimum effort. While you might not believe it, I invest a lot of voluntary work and time into planning and organising our photography events. For example, I make all kinds of phone calls and write emails to institutions and authorities on behalf of our group, requesting special permission and access to venues and places that are usually off limits or do not permit photography groups. I also continuously scout for new and interesting locations that will be of interest and also serve the needs of our respective group.
I organise and manage our group on a purely voluntary basis and I do not ask for your money. In return for my voluntary endeavours I, however, do kindly request and require everybody (and I really mean everybody) to properly answer our questions and comply with our simple and reasonable group rules.
GROUP RULES:
While I am a very friendly and patient person, I and our group will not tolerate time-wasters or trouble-makers. We are interested in good and sociable exchanges with committed and interested Fellow Photography Enthusiasts. We would rather be a small and committed group than a large and disorderly one. Therefore, I will not hesitate to ban members who do not adhere to our above listed rules.
I will remind you politely once to comply with our rules, before removing you from our group. There is no excuse not to comply with our reasonable rules and they are also clearly visible on our group’s About page.
For Your Information: Meetup.com automatically sends reminder emails, which are a great way to get people to say they really are attending or remind them that they said they will attend.
By default, approximately one week before, people who have RSVP'd 'Attending' or have not yet RSVP'd will receive an automatic event reminder. One day before the event members get a reminder if an event has 2+ RSVPs. These are standard settings established by Meetup.com and I do not intend to change them.
To contact me, or if you have any questions, please write directly using the group's contact form.
I very much look forward to meeting you at our next event!
Thank you for your interest and cooperation!
With best regards,
Alexander Beck (Group Founder)

About the Group's Founder:
I am a professional British reportage photographer (LRPS), born in Hamburg Germany and based in Zurich Switzerland. I was introduced to photography by my grandfather aged seven, when I was given my very first camera; a Kodak Instamatic Pocket 100. Curious by nature, I have taken pictures ever since.
Having studied photography, photo-media, printing and the history of art at Art School and holding a degree with honours from the Humanities Department at King's College London, University of London, I love the diversity traditional non-digital photography offers the artist. Over the past five years I have also partially moved to the world of digital photography. Being a purist, I never crop images and prefer using available natural light. Furthermore, I enjoy reading about the history and philosophy of art and photography.
More than 90% of my bookings come through personal recommendations. A fact that speaks for itself. I specialise in: International Reportage Assignments, Portraits, Weddings and Events.
As an experienced and widely travelled photo-journalist and photography tutor, I enjoy meeting new and interesting people who are interested in learning about the art of photography.
