Hike over sunny Ticino Valleys: Cardada (over Locarno)

CHANGES:

* Event moved to next week (6th of July) as it is clearly too short notice

* Let's push further south to Locarno to get real sunny weather.

The difficulty will be medium (around 4 hours + lunch).

Train: 8.05 from ZH HB arrival 10.57 Locarno

    Hello hello
Got some feedback. Some of us had to step out for last-minute family or work reasons.

    OK, for tomorrow:
It will be hot for hiking up. So we'll take the cable car to go up the first half. It will be cooler a few hundred meters higher.

We'll then hike up the second half, and going back with the cable car as well from the second half.

It should not be more than[masked]m up and down. Most people with average fitness can do it without problem.

If we agree on it, we might get some stuff to make a grill with wonderful mountain view up there. I will take a "Einweggrill" in my backpack tomorrow. Then we can simply shop quickly near the lake of Locarno.

For those joining in Zug or Locarno, just call me on[masked] if you don't catch us at the train station.

    See you tomorrow!

The number of participants dropped down significantly. It's not worth (and even financially risky) to organize a group ticket.

Hi Guillaume how much will the ticket group costs pro person, I have a Halb Tax. Thanks & see you

Hello the number of people has gone down from 20+ to 13 then it's too risky to organize a group ticket (I would have to pay for each people below 10 if there are more last-minute cancellations).

Great hike! I will be mountaineering near by and probably on the same train down so perhaps see u in the train ;)

    I have half tax.

It looks like we'll be clearly beyond 10 people. Should I arrange a group ticket for ZH HB to Locarno?
I can indicate 10 GA and 5 half tax, it should be all right. Please comment below if you have either Ga or half tax and want to be part of it

Thanks for increasing the number. Looking forward to this hike. Can you post little more detail for this hike. Elevation difference, starting & ending points. Thanks in advance. I would be coming from Basel.

The latest train to ZH HB is at 21.00, Basel 20.02 (to arrive before midnight). I don't care which one to take to come back, actually staying the night to hike around would be nice (Lugano Monte Salvatore for instance)

Good news: current weather forecast is FULL blue sky 19-29 degrees.
It's really gonna be HOT. So we might consider the option of taking the cable car for the initial way up.
Of course it's gonna be more fresh on the top of the mountain.

An good option would be to grill at the top (1 one-use grill can fit in my backpack ;)

I also increase the number of places to 25, to ensure some more people can also join.

    See you on Saturday!!
