Davos-Arosa Hike

Change:

We hike only on Saturday

Saturday: Davos-Arosa (6 hours + 1h lunch).

We come back to Zurich the evening as many people only want to hike on Saturday or want to come with a dog, (which are not allowed at the Youth hostel)

A one-day hike seems to make more sense then (and is much easier to manage for me).

We will come back to Zurich with the train of 18.48 or 19.48

----------------------------------------------

Dear All,

I would like to organise a hiking weekend this Saturday/Sunday. There are many possible hikes around Davos/Klosters.

Saturday: Walserweg (Davos–Sertig Dörfli) a 5-6 hours hike (+ 1 hour lunch) or a very nice option Davos-Arosa (6 hours + 1h lunch).

Sunday: an easier one, part of the Graubünden Jakobsweb Davos Dorf–Dürrboden (3-4 hours + 1h lunch).

I have pre-reserved 20 places at the Youth Hostel of Davos. Staying 1 night costs around 50-55 francs a night at the youth hostel (depending on room type), including the dinner meal. It does also include a special card with which we can take the cable cars for free (5 chf deposit).

For organisational reasons I need to confirm the exact number of participants as soon as possible. Reservations on Thursday midnight will be definitive.

Train: ZH HB-Davos Dorf[masked]
with change in Landquart at[masked] (platform 2 -> 5)

You'll need of course: water, suncream, hat, sunglasses, some pick nick, change for one day.

Please prepare our backpack so, that you can start immediately the hike once arrived in Davos.

Cheers,
Guillaume

    Hi Guillaume,
Since we are driving by car- We Need to know at what time you will be arriving at Davos and where to meet. Perhaps a mobile nummer would be nice if anything should happen- Zurich just started their summer vacation!
    Thanks Mira

Hi Guillaume, I'll have a different train connection so I won't be meeting you in Zurich. I'll be in the same train from Lanquart, so I'll find you there or in Davos Dorf.

hi Guillaume, you might want to consider giving people an idea of how many altitude meters they will be doing. Although this is very popular hike, it is not a walk in the park hike and you need minimum condition to do it. If you start in Davos you have at least 800 meters going up up up to strelapass, so certainly not a hike for the unexperienced/unfit.

Thanks for this input, Patrick. The trail is roughly 1400m elevation. And indeed it's not for unfit people.

Hello from the bookings and wishes ( hiking with dogs) it seems that staying at Davos Saturday night does not make sense.
I suggest then to limit the hike to Saturday and make another independent one somewhere in east Switzerland, like Pizol or Sargans. Or Rigi would also be very nice. Please provide some feedback, that would be welcome

Hello Martin, Thanks for the suggestion. It would be a very good hike for one coming weekend.

Guillaume I dont know yet if I can come up sat so exclude me from the youth hostel for now. I will let you know if that changes.
    Thanks for organising.

Concerning dogs I have an answer from the youth hostel. They are not allowed. You might have to look for an hotel which allow them.
That's a pity because I think they have their place in hikes

    Hello hello

I got the confirmation from the youth hotel: we'll be in the 4-people rooms, those with the superb view and balcony. The price is slightly higher: around 65 per person (including dinner and breakfast)

    Cheers,
    Guillaume
