Matterhorn Views: Pt1 Seenweg , Pt2 Furggsee

Part 1: Zermatt (Blauherd) - Zermatt (Riffelalp) , Part 2: Trockenersteg - Schwarzsee VS

There are two parts to this, each rather short, that I am combining into one day. The day will be 2 lake tours with the Matterhorn in the background. There is a lift ride between these two parts to help manage the time and effort of the day.

The first looks amazing: Seenweg

Those wishing to stop after the first part can and go to Gornergratt. There is a train going up that provides a fantastic view of the Matterhorn.

This is day 2 of 2 for me in the Zermatt area. I'll be coming in Friday and leaving Sunday. Others that wish to do the same are welcome, otherwise joining just one day would still be a nice time. I'll be at the Hotel National Superior Zermatt; regardless of the place you pick, those staying the nights can meet for dinner/drinks in the evenings.

Part 1, Part 2

Length: 12.5k , 6k
Hiking time: 4h , 2h
Requirements: medium (mountain hiking trail)
Conditions: easy, medium
Height difference ups: 422m , 173m
Height difference downs: 871m , 516m

(These are important for you to understand so that you sign up for a hike you are comfortable making.)

(Seriously, understand these. It's the difference between a nice day out in the mountains and a death march.)

(Android app users, there are JPGs here.)

- Meet at Zermatt station at 09:13. Go straight to the lifts.

For those coming from Zurich, meet at 05:50 under the angel.

- Follow the routes. ROUTE 1 , ROUTE 2

- Return to Zermatt / Zurich

This was such a great weekend. I had wanted to hike in Zermatt for quite a while. So nice to see my favorite alpine mountain from all angles. Great company too.

It look like a very nice hike! But I will be hiking for the 1st time in Switzerland on 31 Aug with other group and do not know yet, if I will be in a proper condition to join this one (though I want very much!) Will it be possible just to join you on Sunday (without leaving a strong RSVP as it will be not good to say "yes" and not showing up)? I will be travelling from Fribourg if so possible...
