A swiss day in Ebenalp

UPDATE 30. July Dear all, Here my checkboard for this hike: - Weather: very good hiking weather forecasted - Train: reserved - Enthusiasm: super - Group: splendid - Overall perspective: just like a swiss day should be like! Here some more info: Return train to Zürich HB Wasserauen ab 17:19 Gossau an 18:13 Gossau ab 18:19 Zürich an 19:23 Groupticket price: - With Halbtax CHf 28 - Without Halbtax CHF 56.00 Thanks Kat for the suggestion on eating Rösti on the top. We will definitely have time for that! See you then! Sven [masked] Hi everyone, In 2008, we made this wonderful and successful hike where basically all senses of Switzerland came together. And what not better to celebrate the swiss national day of the 1st of August on this beautiful scenery. As before, we arrive by train to Wasserauen (876m), then start hiking up to Seealpsee (1141m). Here we will have lunch. Then we walk to the other side of the lake and hike up again to Altenalp and Äscher . Here we take the road to Wildkirchli, a little chapel that is nicely put against the cliff. Through the caves we go to Ebenalp (1644m) for a good drink and food. I guess by then we will have enough of hiking and will take the gondola down to Wasserauen. For those that want to keep on hiking, can hike down. This hike is about 4.5 hours long, going up about 800 m (and for those not going down with the gondola another 800m down). The hike is intermediate and the path is well marked and secured. The train schedule is as followed: Zürich HB ab 09:09 Gossau SG an 10:06 Gossau SG ab 10:17 Wasserauen an 11:11 Duration: 2:02 If you miss us on the meeting point, please go directly to the train and catch us there. If you don't find us, give me a call - please don't sent SMS "W r u?" as I am very slow in typing back a whole explanation on where we are - a call is quicker. To bring along: - Water (min. 1 Liter) - Food (Cookies, Snacks, P&J Sandwiches, Pizza, etc) - Sun and Rain protection (creme, glasses, jackets) - Extra clothes (after the hike) - Steady shoes (sneakers - or in UK English "trainers", are on your own judgment) Just to have a good size of a group, I limit the people to 25. If you want to come anyway, please call me. I will buy Group tickets, hence, when signing up, please let me know if you want to be included and if you have a Halbtax, GA, or "none". It is usually a good idea to be in the groupticket as everyone gets 20% discount plus a reserved seat on train, but it can only consider those that stick with the group from and back to Zürich). Note that those with GA adds to the number of the group to meet the minimum required number to be a group. I hold the right to cancel the trip due to weather or illness reasons. I'll do my best to let you know as soon as possible. Please look into the website and email for any changes before you head to the meeting point, or at least the night before the event. Ok, that said, lets go out into the Swiss Alps and enjoy the mountains! Hope to see you then! Sven

I had a fantastic day, sometimes feeling like a little kid again while walking along the small paths wondering what comes next around the corner. Great hike, great people, lots of laughter. What else can you wish for? Thanks for this perfect day, Sven!

A Swiss day to remember. After a good hike to the top, nothing better than a good drink, food and spectacular view with people that I really enjoyed hiking with.
