Social midweek ice skating Kunsteisbahn Heuried‏

  • Nov 27, 2013 · 7:00 PM

Dear all,

with the first snow the winter season finally started in Zurich. Let's use the opportunity and meet for social ice-skating on Wednesday 27th of November.

This event is open for everyone: beginners and advanced skaters. I consider myself a bloody beginner, so I'm wrong person to learn the technique from :)

The venue will be Kunsteisbahn Heuried, which will be open until 10pm on that day. To get there take the tram 9 or 14 to the stop "Heuried".

The entrance costs 7 SFr and you can rent a pair of skates for 6 SFr. It's recommendable to bring a small lock along with you to put your stuff into a locker.

We meet at 7.20pm in front of the entrance in order to get inside around 7.30h. If you come later just come inside to meet the group.  Give me a call if you are lost:

https://www.stadt-zuerich.ch/ssd/de/index/sport/eislaufen/heuried/angebote.secure.html#contenttabs

The address is:

Kunsteisbahn Heuried

Wasserschöpfi 71

8055 Zürich

In case of bad weather (rain or wet snow fall) the activity will be canceled. If the forecast will be not suitable, I will update the event description before the lunch time, so please check the event description.

Just few warnings: Behave responsibly and tolerate other people on the ice rink. Avoid putting yourself or anyone else into danger.

The organizer (me) is not responsible for any injuries or accidents which might happen before, during or after the event.

See you there.

Juri.

      Hi Anne,
      thanks!
Happy new Year to you and all the other skaters as well.
The next week I will be a bit busy. But starting from middle of January I plan to organize some ice-skating again.
But if you want, you can also organize an event on your own or with Alexis. Ask him if he is available.

Dear all, please put some warm clothes on. It's also quite recommendable to take some gloves with you. They keep your hands warm and protect your fingers at the same time.

Good point, yes take wrist or elbow protectors with you to stay on the safe side (e.g. same as used for inline-skating)

I have been asked to post this activity - personally I will not attend though. Not only have I lost ice skating skills (played ice hockey as a teenager many many years ago), but I am attending an avalanche course that same evening.

I like the ice skating atmosphere but this year my focus is on improving my skiing abilities. I do not need another accident after I missed part of the hiking season.

Thanks for launching the skating season, Juri!

I believe we should keep the good tradition from the last years alive, even if Adam and Stefano the most active organizers for ice skating sessions left Zurich.
