Trail Run (38km 430m elevation gain)

Please note, this is a run not a hike!

The plan is to run from Schindellegi to Zurich along the Sihl. There a small uphill section at the start and then it's all mainly downhill following the river.   The plan is to finish at the Fork & Bottle (www.forkandbottle.ch) in Brunau Park for a well deserved lunch. The restaurant is very close to Brunau train station if anyone wants to jump straight on a train home.

For those that have the appropriate technology, i have the gpx file of the route which i can email to you to avoid people getting lost once we separate due to different running speeds.  I will also bring along copies of the map so you know where to go but following the river should be navigationally easy!

Trains
Plan is to take the 8:12am train from Zurich HB arriving at Wadenswil at 8:34am and changing to the S13 train to Schindellegi at 8:34am arriving at Schindellegi-Feusisberg at 8:44.  We meet under the angel at 8am and move to the train shortly after, tickets in hand.

Plan to finish the run at around 3.5 hours, hopefully!

Essential equipment to bring with you:

• Trail running shoes

• Backpack

• Mobile / cell-phone (switched on at all times)

• Insulation blanket (it can be very cold if you get wet and have to stop due to injury)

• Water-proof jacket in case it rains

• A warm long sleeved layer in case it gets cold

• Water and nutrition (gels, bars, etc) to keep you going for 3-4 hours running (includes safety margin in case of delays)

If weather looks horrible i may cancel the event. It´s no fun running in the rain!!

I hope to organize more of these runs over the next few months in preparation for some summer running i have planned. Please let me know if you are interested in these kind of activities in the future and i would be very pleased to hear of suggestions for routes. If you have a run/route you particularly like the look of with hopefully a gpx file that i can upload please let me know.

Hi guys, sorry for not joining you for lunch. I was slow and I managed to lose my way..
Don't ask me how is it possible if you're following the river.... For some reason I thought that we don't cross it, so at the next bridge after we've seen each other last time I remained on the right bank, the road took me uphill and than I lost myself. After some time I found the river, but later it appeared to be a wrong one. I enthusiastically followed it until I reached the lake, but later it appeared to be the lake of Zug....
Even though I had a lot of fun and made my 32 km :)(uploaded my map here, just to show you what happened)
Hope you enjoyed lunch and thank you for the day - I'm very happy, cause this distance is quite remarkable for me and I'm so glad that I made it!

Can you let me know if you want lunch at the end of the run so I can reserve a table at the fork and bottle?

I think I will run tomorrow with you guys ( even though I expect to be running alone). Unfortunately I cannot join in brunch, but sounds like a great idea!

It seems that the weather will be much better on Saturday, so I am thinking of running it then instead of Sun ( which has a high chance of rain)...
