The idea would be to go skiing in Grindelwald for the weekend. Hence we would travel on friday night and return sunday late afternoon.
Grindelwald ski area is highly popular because of the magnificent views on Eiger, Monch and Jungfrau and because of the large Grindelwald/Wengen ski area. Three weeks before we go, the famous Lauberhorn ski race will take place here with thousands of swiss supporters next to the race. February is the ideal month to go since Grindelwald is not that high as other resorts and therefore it is best to go in the middle of the season. The area is considered intermediate with slopes for everyone.
I have taken an option for 22 spots in the Grindelwald youth hostel (beautiful old chalet) and i have asked for rooms for 2 people and 4 people (i have left out the rooms for 6 people).
They have provided me with following prices ( assuming everyone is a youth hostel member and more than 20 people join)
# 2 bed room : 58,70 francs per person/night
# 4 bed room with lavabo (showers on corridor): 41, 70 francs per person/night
In case you are not a member then please add 4 francs per person/night.
I propose to go skiing off-piste on saturday. Our guides, propose an off-piste unlimited ski day for CHF 80.- per person all inclusive avalanche transceiver, avalanche beacon training and a mountain guide.
Rather than getting started immediately, Swiss Alpine Guides explained that only typically 10% of people know what is a receiver, sender and how are things working, so they would like prior to skiing do a 1 hour exercise testing the equipment. If you have followed avalanche courses and/or other training and are familiar how these things work, then the training would not be mandatory.
Depending on how many people are interested, a beginner and a more intermediate/advanced group will be created. If interested, please transfer the money to my bank account by February 17 at the latest, when I need to confirm final numbers to them.
My bank account details are:
IBAN: CH[masked] 8940 A
Beneficiary: Patrick Wellens, 8006 Zurich
1. Please note that everyone is responsible for their own acts. It is up to each individual to take out appropriate insurance (off-piste, rescue, hospitality, third -party liability etc.) and by no means this organizer can be held responsible in any way for organizing this ski-weekend.
2. Refund policy is the same as always - in case you can-t make it, someone else can take over your spot - however I will not make refunds. This policy has been adopted several years ago after several people simply changed ideas (decided to no longer to an activity) and then requested a full refund.
3. As this is a group booking, and not an individual booking, if you have complaints/issues, please discuss these with me and do not start a discussion with the hostel since they do not know your individual situation and only now our group booking.
4. Given that this is a group booking and the number of males/females joining is unpredictable in the beginning and also the number and types of rooms changes constantly, I have tried to do my best to accommodate your wishes. Nevertheless it might be possible that not all your wishes (type of room) comes through. I am hoping that everybody is sufficiently flexible when joining groups and clearly does not see these groups as hotels with individualized service.
