Announcing a new Meetup for Zurich Hike & Outdoor!

What: Jura Ridgeway Stage 2 - Brugg to Salh?he

When: April 26,[masked]:15 AM

Where: Click the link below to find out!

Meetup Description: Day number 2................ again this is being posted very last minute so apologies. I will try to get the other stages posted with more advance notice. If you have any questions or wish me to include further information for future events please get in touch.

Whilst the Jura is not quite as visually dominating or as demanding as the Alps, you will find plenty of good walking and pleasant scenery. You also get to travel down pretty much the whole of the west of the country travelling from north to south and will maybe get to discover a part of the country that quite often gets ignored in favour of the higher Alps.

Hike Info

Start - Brugg Bahnhof 09:00
Finish - Salh?he approx 16:30
Distance - 24km
Total time -Approx 6.5 hours (not allowing for breaks and subject to change due to the pace of the group)
Ascent - 900m
Descent - 470m

Brief Description
Day 2 of the Jura Ridgeway. Again another long hike but with a fairly steady ascent. This takes us from Brugg with a gentle climb up to the Linnerberg where we should hopefully get a good view. we then continue along to Staffeleg before another short ascent up to Salh?he. Again this is a low altitude hike never going above 800m. Total walking time is expected to take around 6.5 hours so allowing for breaks we should be in Salh?he by around 16:30. There is a bus connecting from here to Aarau where there are then regular trains to Zurich. For those who wish, there is an option to finish the hike at Staffeleg and catch the bus to Aarau from there.

Travel Info

The train schedule is as follows:

Depart: Z?rich HB 08:36am - IR
Arrive: Brugg 09:00am
Travel time: Less than half an hour

Please note that we will meet in Zurich HB under the big colourful angel at 8:15am. If you are running late and miss us, please go directly to the train and try to find us. If your coming from elsewhere, you can also meet us on the train or at Brugg Bahnhof at 09:00am. Those who are planning on doing this please let me know so we are not waiting for you in Zurich.

For any further information, or for any late comers on the day please don't hesitate to call me at[masked] 43.

Tickets - I have a GA so I do not need to purchase a ticket however for those who need to purchase tickets on the day, I believe there is a cheaper group option though I am not sure on the details of how many people are needed to qualify for a group discount. Maybe someone can enlighten me! For the moment I would advise that if we arrive at the meeting point on time then this should allow for us to sort it out then. For further hikes I'm sure we can plan ahead much better!! Apologies for my ignorance on the matter!

Recommended to bring along:
- sun/wind/rain protection (wind jacket, sun cream, glasses, hat etc)
- hiking boots recommended
- lunch (sandwich, chocolate etc.)
- water (at least 1 litre )
- basic first aid kit (I will be carrying one but it is always useful to have extra)
- maps of the area are also useful to bring if you have them
- a cheerful disposition and plenty of enthusiasm!

Disclaimer and small print

I reserve the right to cancel the hike at anytime if weather conditions or any other factors that may affect the safety of the group arise:

- be it before the event
- on the day of the event before the agreed start time
- or during the hike itself

In the event of a cancellation I will try to give as much notice as I can but please check the site the morning of the hike BEFORE you leave home. Weather conditions can change quickly and the decision to cancel may be sudden.

Everyone who takes part in the hike does so at their own risk

Each participant is responsible to ensure they have adequate health insurance and any other insurances that may be required

Whilst all care will be taken to keep the group together it may at times become necessary to split up due to pace, safety, or if someone needs to retire from the hike due to medical reasons.

OK so thats all the information, lets get hiking! I look forward to seeing you for day 2 on Sunday.
