First of all, I hope you are all enjoying your summer and are making the most of living in Zurich! J
Some of you may know that I have had to take a back seat from organizing the Saturday Drinks event of late as I have been traveling extensively through work to Asia.
In the past Karl Neilson has always been supportive in the past in providing cover for the odd weekend when I was not available and this has been much appreciated. More recently, John Wubb also offered to help and of course any support like this is also greatly welcomed, as it takes a huge amount of energy and commitment to make the event work well on a weekly basis!
After discussion with many of you, I took the decision over the last year to move the event away from Toto to other locations, really just for a change and to see what meeting at other venues might be like.
Of late we have been meeting at Goethe Bar but with the summer in full swing people have been keen to go back to Toto where the outdoor meeting points in the late evening sun are hard to beat, and in addition Toto as a Bar are also extremely keen to have us back!
This led to a split in the group with John running the event at Goethe and Karl looking to do an alternative at Toto. The plan was to give people choice in terms of where they might wish to go on a Saturday.
Ultimately however, the Seefeld Drinks initiative is just an informal, easy going event where people can hang out and genuinely have fun on a regular basis. Another important point to share with everyone at this stage is that there is no tie or incentive with any venue so it can really happen anywhere. There is no other agenda or monopoly situation. People of course can go anywhere they want on a Saturday!
The above seems simple in principle but what has happened is practice is much more complicated with various emails and claims about people or organizations doing wrong or whatever. It is really unfair to draw up such criticisms. The facts that have been used are misleading and incorrect and in the big picture none of this stuff is relevant if you remember that we are all genuinely only meeting up for a bit of simple fun!
This Group will move back to Toto from this weekend with Karl helping out, (as he done so well in the past). John will continue with his event under another name and with this we truly wish him the very best whilst at the same time genuinely thank him his help over the past months.
As for me, I look forward to getting back into the scene very soon and catching up with you all and having a peaceful and happy timel!
Have a wonderful Tuesday! J.
