  • THE KING IS DEAD. THE SHOW MUST GO ON. A NEW STAR IS WAITING IN THE WINGS.

Richard of Gloucester is a born performer, stepping up as director and lead actor as he stages his own irrepressible rise. Casting two performers in the role of England’s infamous murderer-king, the Cambridge University European Theatre Group takes a fresh look at the rise and fall of an icon.

"RICHARD LOVES RICHARD. THAT IS, I AM I"

Returning to Zurich as part of a two week international tour, rediscover Shakespeare’s most famous history play with an unstoppable duo at its core.

"SHINE OUT, FAIR SUN, TILL I HAVE BOUGHT A GLASS, THAT I MAY SEE MY SHADOW AS I PASS"

The European Theatre Group is a self-sufficient student theatrical company which tours a Shakespeare play around Europe for two and half weeks every December, and has been doing so for over 50 years. With a company of twenty-four, professional lighting and sound equipment, costumes and an experimental set, we can put on a show absolutely anywhere.

An integral part of the tour is the educational enrichment we provide. The play is designed to engage with modern audiences, from school children to expatriates. Over time, ETG has developed a reputation at home and abroad for producing exciting, innovative, experimental and professional interpretations of classic texts, attracting the most ambitious actors, technicians and creative forces from within Cambridge University.

    Dear All,

Unfortunately, I received a message from the ETG tour manager, and they are cancelling their entire European Tour due to the hospitalisation of two crew members at the last minute.

So, I am afraid, Richard is cancelled.

"I am devastated to tell you that today we were forced to cancel all of the ETG tour outside of the UK this year.

Two invaluable members of our team have been admitted to hospital in the last 24 hours with serious problems - our female lead and our chief electrician. Whilst losing our female lead is a major problem in delivering a performance worth your time and money, our greater concern is our chief electrician, as this affects the safety of not only the company, but of anyone using the venue. We would have been unable to complete a physically safe tour."

Hi Alpo. I understand you may not want to buy tickets but could you make a reservation so we can sit together and then people can pay on the door?

Sure, that‘s a good idea. I will collect a list of the participants and make a reservation for everyone that is coming.
