This is a meetup group for parents who would like to discuss and implement ideas to better educate their children. I started this group in 2009 to gather ideas which could help us give our children a better education, get feedback, try out the smaller ones that seem workable and promote the bigger ones that need governemnt backing (with the general election looming, it should be an opportune time to do this). Here are some that our friends and other parents have put forward over dinner, on the school run and at other times. (1) No frills private schools - a bit like the private wings of NHS hospitals. (2) Home tutoring groups...play dates with an element of tuition by parents or professional tutors. (3) Invention funded private school places - my little girl has already come up with a new toy. (4) School co-operatives - apparently these work in Sweden. I have two (mostly well behaved) little ones - a gentleman aged 5 and a strong minded lady 7! We are London based, but are looking for assistant organisers - parents - to help us hold meetups all over the UK. Similarly, we are looking for schools that would like to become involved in organising and publicising this meetup.
