The multicultural art project, “Painting a book of Edmonton” is organized by the Multicultural Artists group in cooperation with The Writers Beyond Borders writer’s group and the Borderlines program. Having come from different countries and cultural backgrounds, the creative people of these groups met in Edmonton, and despite their diverse origins, have found a common passion for artistic creation.
These talented visual artists and writers explore our city from different points of view, using different media, and in different settings, painting and writing together to create beautiful book. Each page will reflect day and night, sadness and laughter, summer and winter. From small details to panoramic views of the city to show an Edmonton which you have never seen before.
The first phase of this project will be at an exhibition at The Art Habitat, opening on January 24. This gala event will feature a multimedia display of the art works, and a chance to speak with the artists and writers about their ‘outsider’s’ view of the capital city.
