I think you have to go with your interests. For example, I love outdoor activities (bike, hike, boat (lic'd captain), sail (cert'd instuctor), canoe, kayak, ski, camp, tennis) , reading and cultural events. So I referenced those topics, and found a number of groups that I've joined.
