You are all invited to the inaugural public presentation of IN Series. Jutta Treviranus – Director of the Inclusive Design Institute, and Inclusive Design Research Institute, will be opening this series of public presentations, which promote discussion and engagement on a wide variety of topics about Inclusion: Disability, Accessibility, Health, Education, Culture and the Arts.

The first guest presenter is Lisa Brown, Director - Workman Arts and the annual Rendezvous with Madness Film Festival.

Lisa Brown will give a captivating presentation on her experience and accomplishments directing the annual Rendezvous with Madness Film Festival, and Workman Arts. Workman Arts is a multidisciplinary professional arts organization, that has worked with thousands of artists with mental illness and addiction issues to create, to perform, and to educate, in five artistic disciplines: Film; Theatre; Visual Arts; Music; and Literary Arts.

When: 6:30pm to 8pm, Wednesday February 27, 2013.

Location: Participatory Inclusive Design Lab, Inclusive Design Institute, OCAD University.

IN Series is hosted by the Inclusive Design Institute (IDI) at OCAD University. The IDI is a generative hub of applied research that addresses the challenge of design that is inclusive of the full range of human diversity with respect to ability, language, culture, gender, and age. Through research, industry collaboration, education and civic engagement, the IDI fosters the goal of an innovative, creative and inclusive society. Guest presenters are from a wide range of disciplines presenting in various public formats, and topics from the engaging, thought-provoking and discussion-oriented field of inclusion.

About Lisa Brown:

Lisa Brown is the Founder and Artistic/Executive Director of Workman Arts. She is the co-Founder and Festival Director of the annual Rendezvous with Madness Film Festival where she has been overseeing its programming for the past 18 years. She conceived and produced the inaugural Madness and Arts 2003 World Festival (Toronto) which has gone on to be hosted in Germany and the Netherlands. Lisa holds an MSM, an RN, has studied non-profit sector management at Ryerson University, and recently completed her MBA Essentials for Managers at Rotman School of Management. Lisa was decorated with the Governor Generals, Meritorious Service Medal for her vision in the founding of Workman Arts in 2004 and again in 2012 where she received the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal at Rideau Hall.
