A friend of mine, who is an RYT (Registered Yoga Teacher) and student of Anusara Yoga, has agreed to teach some yoga classes for the Ann Arbor Adventure Club! We'll be able to get some top-notch yoga instruction fairly inexpensively. Here's the info:
Time and Location
The Phoenix Center, which is a very nice space, is located at 220 S.Main St, kitty corner to the the Starbucks and just above Elmo's.
Note that there are several other class days/times. The full schedule of classes can be viewed at www.NicoleTeufelYoga.com. Those don't have associated meetups, but everyone is welcome to come. If you would like to come to any of those you must email Nicole to ensure you have a spot. Many of the classes fill up to capacity. Here email is [masked].
The cost for the class is $5 for your first session. Meetup.com members are then able to purchase one discounted 5 class package for $40. There is also a New Student Special option that is one month unlimited for $45 if you'd prefer that instead! Payments can be made by cash, paypal, Chase QuickPay, credit card or check.
If you bring a friend (new to the class and not a current Adventure Club member) you will receive 10% off your next package after the introductory offer.
By the way, the RSVPs do not reflect how many people will be there. There's always at least 10-15 people in each class.
Instructor Nicole Teufel has been practicing yoga for over 10 years. She is a certified teacher with the Yoga Alliance having earned her 200hr RYT in 2010. Nicole also has extensive training in Anusara Yoga and plans to earn a second teaching certification in that style. She fell in love with this highly alignment-based style of yoga because of it’s heart-centered philosophy and its premise that all beings are intrinsically good at their core. Her training in this style has inspired her to help others open to their own innate goodness and unique gifts through the practice of yoga. She has studied with teachers such as Desiree Rumbaugh, Sianna Sherman, John Friend, Betsey Downing, Jamie Allison, Sara Davidson, Todd Tesen, and Natalie Donnellon. One of her favorite parts of the teaching process is to empower her students to do things that they never imagined they could! She currently keeps a blog that you are welcomed to visit: www.ToGetInspired.com
This class is a mixed-level Hatha class. It will be highly alignment-based, yet playful! Individuals who are new to yoga are welcomed as the class is designed to suit all levels of experience.
That said, there are several other class levels. Those can also be viewed on the website along will class level descriptions!
What to Bring
Water, and a mat. These are not required but are recommended. If you will need a mat please email Nicole at [masked] so that she can ensure you have one when you arrive.
