New Year's Eve - Potluck before the street party

  • December 31, 2013 · 7:00 PM

If you don't have plans for NYE yet, let's celebrate together!!! We will be glad to host a potluck dinner at our apartment. And to make it extra fun, everyone has to prepare to showcase their cool/goofy talent :) For example, you can play your violin, perform a dance, show everybody some martial arts moves, teach us how to make origami, organize a game/jokes, do arithmetic while doing a handstand, etc.

Afterwards, we'll go downtown for the Block Party live entertainment & Puck Drop at midnight. Option to go dancing/bar hopping after! Other ideas for the party are welcome in the comments section.

Our apartment is on North Campus; see address in the comments. Please call[masked]nine.5186 if you can't find us.

Here's info about the Puck Drop http://www.mlive.com/news/ann-arbor/index.ssf/2013/11/new_years_eve_block_party_in_d.html

The address: 1552 Plymouth Rd, Ann Arbor.
If you're coming west on Plymouth Rd it will be the 2nd Left (driveway not well lighted) after Barton Dr.
Apt #20, use the stairs closest to the driveway.

    1. Food/drink - bring anything you like, and you can post it in comments
    2. Dress - semi-formal-casual-comfortable...
    3. Your talent - goofy or brilliant or non-required
..the way I see it, there are no rules for how to have a good time, just bring yourself!
When to eat: can start at 8pm, unless there are a lot of people coming later.
Seating: you might want to put your camping chair in your car, just in case...but we'll try to get enough chairs by next week.
Ending: You are welcome to bring your sleeping bag and sleep it off in our apartment, if it turns out that your festive mood interferes with your ability to drive :)

If it's not too much trouble, that would be wonderful!!! The house elves will help you bring them upstairs.

      December 29, 2013

    • IKO

OK. Sure. I will bring them.

      December 30, 2013

Will we be driving separately downtown for the puck drop or getting a cab or something? Also is there any type of dish that I should bring, like desert or main course or appetizer or something?

    December 26, 2013

    • Liza K.

Yes, it's a 30-min brisk walk, which is very doable. However, if anybody would rather not walk, we could take a car or 2 downtown, although it might be hard to find street parking.

      December 26, 2013

    • Brian M.

I am sure if we all stick together and walk, we should be fine. I am sure finding a cab would be hard to come by as well.

      December 30, 2013

  • Alexis K

Hmm, based on # of folks coming (and I am super excited to see so many new & familiar faces!), there won't be enough parking spots at the apartment complex.
As you arrive, we'll configure carpooling to a nearby parking location. So park on the left side of the parking lot & come on up. Food-wise, I'll be ordering couple of pizza's for everyone.
Haven't been practicing for nearly a year, but will attempt to pluck a thing or 2 on guitar.

If you have questions/can't find us, call me at 73four[masked]

Will be happy to meet new faces. Been to many A2 adventure club events before, just have to decide what to bring

      December 30, 2013

  • Dylan C.

Food - could I use the oven to cook Tandoori chicken? I'll bring naan and packaged Bhindi Masala too.

Goofy talent - I'll demonstrate the Algonquin Bowline, Alpine Butterfly Loop, Timber Hitch, Carrick Bend, Flemish Bend, Double Sheet Bend and maybe a few others.

    1 · December 29, 2013

    • Alexis K

There will be both a stove & microwave for use.

      December 30, 2013

  • Abhishek B.

I'll bring a vegetable biryani (a spiced rice dish). Also as for the goofy tricks I can teach some origami and a catchy bollywood tune if there is a guitar..

    December 29, 2013

    • Alexis K

Classical guitar will be onsite :)

      December 30, 2013

  • Brian M.

No plans yet, sure I can come.

    December 28, 2013

  • Liza K.

If we want to have plenty of time for the block party, we could start our potluck as early as 7pm...
A2 block party will feature: "The headlining musical entertainment artist will be Michelle Chamuel, star of 'The Voice' and former Ann Arborite. Chamuel will perform with Tyler Duncan and their band, S/HE. Chamuel, who also performs under her electronic alias The Reverb Junkie, recently released her first solo album titled "All I Want." The night will also feature DJs Robert Lux, Ross Federman, DJ Scout and live drumming from Mike Shea. Matthew Altruda, host of Tree Town Sound on Ann Arbor’s 107.1 will be the master of ceremonies for The Puck Drops Here."

    December 23, 2013

What is the address for the potluck?
