A friend of mine, who is an RYT (Registered Yoga Teacher) and student of Anusara Yoga, has agreed to teach some yoga classes for the Ann Arbor Adventure Club! We'll be able to get some top-notch yoga instruction fairly inexpensively. Here's the info:
Time and Location
We've rented the front studio of the Phoenix Center, which is a very nice space. It is located at 220 S.Main St, kitty corner to the the Starbucks and just above Elmo's. Please make sure to be on time, since space is limited and she will be taking public walk-ins (the class is also advertised on the Phoenix Center web site).
Note that there are three other classes, two evening classes and one day class: Monday 7:30PM, Tuesday 7:30PM, and Saturday 12:30AM. Those don't have associated meetups, but everyone is welcome to come.
The cost for the class is $5 for your first session. Meetup.com members are then able to purchase one discounted 5 class package for $40. There is also a New Student Special option that is one month unlimited for $30 if you'd prefer that instead! Payments can be made by cash, paypal, Chase QuickPay, credit card or check.
If you bring a friend (new to the class) you will receive 15% off your next package after the introductory offer.
Win a class! Each class you attend earns you one raffle ticket entry into a monthly drawing for a free class!
By the way, the RSVPs don't always reflect how many people will be there. There's always at least 10-15 people in each class. In the case of too many people showing up, people who have RSVP'd have priority over those who did not. If you're not going to show up, please make sure to change your RSVP so those on the waiting list can get an opportunity to come to the class.
Instructor Nicole Teufel has been practicing yoga for 10 years. She is a certified teacher with the Yoga Alliance having earned her 200hr RYT in 2010.Nicole also has extensive training in Anusara Yoga. She fell in love with this highly alignment-based style of yoga because of it’s heart-centered philosophy and its premise that all beings are intrinsically good at their core. Her training in this style has inspired her to help others open to their own innate goodness and unique gifts through the practice of yoga. She has studied with teachers such as Desiree Rumbaugh, Sianna Sherman, John Friend, Betsey Downing, Jamie Allison, Sara Davidson, Todd Tesen, and Natalie Donnellon. One of her favorite parts of the teaching process is to empower her students to do things that they never imagined they could! She currently keeps a blog that you are welcomed to visit: www.ToGetInspired.com
The is a mixed-level Hatha class. It will be highly alignment-based, yet playful! Individuals who are new to yoga will be welcomed and made to feel at home! The class is designed to suit all levels of experience.
That said, the classes do differ somewhat. Monday is a more foundational class; Wednesday is mixed level, and Thursday focuses more on intermediate/experienced poses. Don't let that scare you away from any of the classes! Experienced members will still get a lot out of the foundational classes, and new members will learn a lot in the mixed and intermediate classes. Just be aware that the progression in the latter classes may be more quick with less cues and explanations.
What to Bring
