Hi there guys. So this is a meetup I've been fantasizing about since I started this group some 2 years ago. For those of you who don't know I live in the outskirts of Napa county up by beautiful Lake Berryessa. I've been wanting to have folks from this meetup group out to my house pretty much this whole time but was worried about everyone having to drive so far home. Well, now It's time for ya'll to come and stay & discover what I've known all along about this special place nestled in the mountains. Steele Canyon Recreation Area is about 1/4 mile from my house and you can camp for about $25-32 a night. I have reserved 3 campsites in my special cove area which can fit a total of 12 campers in overnight. I will make one of the sites more of a communal spot in case some folks want to just drop in for day-tripping. The sites are reserved from Fri July 11th til sun July 13th. We have fairly easy access to the beach at this cute tucked away little cove area and from those spots you can easily throw a raft in the water there or launch a kayak, canoe, or whatever. I have a tandem Kayak which I will leave at the site for anyone who wants to borrow it for a little paddling. I also have several rafts, but the more the merrier. For anyone that is interested I will BBQ at my house on that Friday evening and it will be a bit of a meet & greet type potluck thing. I will respond back to anyone who signs up for the meetup with my address. Although the BBQ is a potluck it is not required to bring anything except your fabulous friendly self. Folks can feel free to set up earlier at the campsites. I will arrange to start the BBQ around 6:00p and we'll have it til about 9:00p. I can even help with transport back to the campground if you need it but gate closes at 10:00 so we must be back by then. The festivities can continue from there. I have a fairly descent sized tent which I will set up B4 hand at one of the sites and it can be a kind of communal shared tent for those that don't have one since I will be sleeping at home. Steele Canyon Park is a lovely park but is very rustic and basic meaning no running water or electricity. So you must bring in all water, food, charcoal, ice, firewood, supplies, etc that you will need. The campground does have vault toilets, porta-potties, & porta-sink stations to wash hands, but be prepared to rough it a little bit. It should be plenty warm out by that time of year so dress accordingly. Those particular campsites are fairly well shaded. You can purchase wood for $10 if you need to but bringing a little extra is strongly encouraged as the nights can get a little chilly. I also have a sleeping bag or two (I have to check) if someone needs to borrow one. The campsites all have their own fire rings, BBQ grills, and pinic tables. This is sure to be a great time and a great way to bond with other Absolutely Fabulous Folks. BTW... you should know this is a VERY gay friendly campground as half the staff is LGBT including myself. Yes, I do work here a couple times a week and I LOVE the lake! - lots of wildlife and pristine beauty! For some more excitement I may even bring my new little seadoo boat and we can take out small groups in that. You can respond to me via my cell phone if you have any questions or would like to book a reservation. My cell is[masked]-2021. You can also feel free to call the resort itself to ask any specific questions about the sites themselves. If you want to come with a crew you may just want to book in your own sites and ask what is available that might be near us. The sites booked are for tent only. But if you have an RV, there are other sites available for that. Boat Launch is $10 for campers, $20 if you are not. This is also a pet friendly resort but sadly pets must stay leashed. If you come for the day there is a $15 day use charge per vehicle and you are more than welcome to come hang out in our little reserved area.
Cheers and hope to meet you there. :)
