Biweekly Bible Study

This week, our regular (every other Tuesday) Bible Study will take a short break from our book study in Genesis, and we'll focus on the story of the birth of Jesus. With this study coming exactly one week before Christmas, we'll study the gospel accounts of Jesus' birth, learn who the players are (Joseph and Mary, the wise men, the shepherds, the angels, etc...) and see just how our Lord Jesus Christ became "Emmanuel!" (which means, "God with us")

As usual, we will meet in Room 207, located on the west side of the Church building.

Make plans to attend, and enjoy the blessings that come from studying the Word of God!

Great study tonight on the birth of Jesus! We got to see the lineage of Jesus traced all the way back to Abraham, learned how Joseph and Mary were told of the birth, and saw who the wise men and shepherds were who visited the baby Jesus. Fantastic time in the New Testament tonight!

After hearing a great sermon today by David Jeremiah, I was reminded of another great point of discussion... We'll touch on the "5 C's of how the Lord Creates" and how it correlates to the "5 C's of Jesus Christ." Indeed the parallel's are very poignant, and relevant to the life of our Savior Jesus. We'll see how these interweave into the story of the birth of Jesus, and how they compare to the essentials of our Christian faith. I believe everyone will really enjoy this, and its importance to us in our Christian faith. Great study this week!!

Afer chatting with Steve a bit last night, he mentioned it might be a good idea to add in some of the Old Testament Prophecies that foretell the birth of Jesus too. I thought that was a good idea, so I'll be incorporating some of that during our study this week as well. There's no way to cover the (literally) hundreds of prophecies given, but we'll still take a look at some of the bigger ones. If you'd like to read ahead a little, take a look in Isaiah chapters 7, 9, and 53. These chapters offer a look backwards appx 700 years to see some of the biggest prophecies of Jesus' birth. Looking forward to studying with everyone on Tues night!

For those who are interested, we'll be studying portions of both Matthew and Luke, chapters 1&2 each. Then we'll tie it all together in John chapter 1. Read ahead thru these chapters, and come with your questions. It'll be another great study, and a very timely and poignant one!
