November Topic: WORDPRESS TUTORIAL (Berkeley Library @ 5:30 PM on 11/03)

WordPress is an Open Source platform that allows regular people to build professional websites without spending a penny. Yes, it's true. WordPress is free.

The problem is that most people don't know how to use it. Fact is; I (Patrick) had to learn it myself. But it's not that hard and our November meeting should get you off to a running start. We will have just two speakers: Lee Rodrigues and me.

Both of us built our websites on WordPress (http://technologydojo... and http://www.tacticalex...) and Lee teaches advanced workshops on WordPress and how to leverage it's capabilities. As for me, my website now has over 360 pages on it and I have yet to spend a single penny on it - just my time.

We'll be covering the installation process, creating pages and posts, building functionality with plugins and integrating with Facebook and Twitter. We only have about an hour so it will be fairly brief but Lee will be introducing his intensive 8-week class for those who want expert guidance to build their WordPress website.

If you're considering building a website using the WordPress platform, please come to this meeting. Also, if you know of anyone else who might benefit from this topic, please tell them about it.

We'll be doing our usual introductions during the first half of the meeting, followed by a 15-minute networking break. You're also welcome to bring flyers and promotional material for the front table.
