January Topic: ONLINE BRANDING (facebook, linkedin, twitter, yelp)

Learn how you can get on page #1 of Google without a website! It's true. There are tons of platforms on the internet than can help you build your ONLINE BRAND without a website or blog.

It's called Online Public Relations and it's an exploding business.

If someone is curious about you or your business, they will probably Google you. What will they find? Good things? Bad things? Weird things? Whether you realize it or not, YOU are your own brand. And you have to manage that brand - especially on the internet!

Learn from one of the best. Rick Rochon speaks about Online Branding around the country. He will be focusing on Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter at our January meeting. I will also spend a few minutes speaking about Yelp, Yahoo Local, CitySearch and MerchantCircle. This is a meeting that could benefit all businesses - big and small. Join us for another informative meeting on January 5th, 2009.

ABOUT RICK ROCHON

Rick Rochon is dedicated to educating and training small business owners to market smarter. Rick was born with an entrepreneurial spirit and intimately understands the challenges small business owners face, especially when marketing their businesses in a rapidly changing environment. Planning, placing and perfecting marketing plans and strategies are essential to all small businesses and Rick's hands-on approach empowers the small business to make immediate and measurable changes to their marketing plan. While Rick is submerged in new media, he also brings to the table an in-depth knowledge of traditional marketing and understands how to leverage both avenues to grow your business, save money and improve the bottom line.

Destined to be an entrepreneur, Rick honed his entrepreneurial skills from an early age as the standout chocolate bar salesman at St. Benedict's School. In the late 80's, Rick cut his teeth in his first "real" enterprise by launching Bravado, a successful espresso catering company in Seattle. What was becoming clear to Rick at this early stage in his path was that learning how to fail in business and get back up and try it again was critical; that the knowledge you gain from failure was even more important than the knowledge gained from the small victories.

*** Bring business cards!! ***

We'll be doing our usual introductions during the first half of the meeting, followed by a 15-minute networking break. You're also welcome to bring flyers and promotional material for the front table.

Thank you.

Patrick.

Dimitrios, From my previous experiences, the sessions end by ~7:30pm and we have to be out of the library by ~7:45pm. Some people meetup for coffee afterwards at a nearby cafe. HTH, Auri.

does anyone know the duration of the meeting?

Who attended?

  • 71 attendees
    •  As usual, the group is getting bigger and the place was packed with eager entrepreneurs with great business concepts and business'.
    •  The meeting was well organized and the organizer allowed every single person to give a 45 second opportunity to promote their own business. Very nice! Also, the guest speaker gave very useful information about getting more exposure. As someone who is trying to drive more eye balls to my stock investment site, I found the information extremely valuable. Thanks Patrick - and thanks Rick! •  What a great group of people.
    •  great info, nice mix of people. The speaker Rick Rochon rocked! Very clear and user friendly notes.
    •  This was one of our best meetings. Rick Rochon did a spectacular job speaking about Online Branding and many people had questions for him afterwards. I feel bad we took too long doing introductions. With such a large group, we need to cut them off at 30 seconds. I will work on that next time.
    •  This social networking is still new to me. The speaker was obviously very knowledgeable about the topic and did a very credible presentation. It helped me to demystify some things and give me some confidence to do this. Patrick. Did you recontact David Blackie at John Hancock? His number is [masked].
    •  Lots of very valuable information! Actually, too much to absorb at one time and a lot to investigate further.
    •  Really good speaker. Clear, concise and some of the most useful information about social networking I've heard. Too bad there was not time for quetions. While I think Patrick does a great job facilitating the meetup, and I like the somewhat casual atmosphere of this group, given the size of it I think everyone should be limited to 30 second introductions. When I saw the size of the group building I knew I needed to keep mine short, but I even annoyed myself with the time I took, and I know it was well under a minute.
    •  I really learned a lot about some great tools and uses for social media that I never would have thought of myself. Great talk, great speaker, and I'm very glad I went.
    •  It was a great experience. There were awesome people there. I would suggest more networking time instead of having a group of 50 introduce themselves one by one. Or, if there is a group that large, you could have 2 or 3 speed networking sessions. I only got 3 business cards in a group of 50 or so. There was only a few minutes of networking. Now, I'll just go to the website and introduce myself to people that I really wanted to get to know better. Wonderful experience however.
    •  Great meeting! The presenter did a fantastic job and the group introductions were fun!
    •  Excellent presentation. Wish we had more time for that part of the agenda.
    •  Rick Richon rocked! He provided a lot of valuable info on marketing strategies using social media sites, and he graciously stayed and answered everyone questions even as the lights were being turned off.
    •  Very good info
    •  I had a great time hearing and writing about what everyone in the group is up to and needs this year. Great opener :)
