March Topic: SEO & SEM
SEO = Search Engine Optimization (organic traffic)
SEM = Search Engine Marketing (paid traffic)
This one is a "must-attend" meeting. We will spend about 25 minutes on each topic and you can expect some great juicy tips and tricks.
I'll be covering SEO with four subheadings: Keyword Placement, Homepage Mentality, Link Building Tricks and Diagnostic Tools. I have used this same information to get dozens of websites on the first page of Google for targeted keyword phrases (some of them for members of our group). This stuff works. I guarantee it. I use these strategies every day.
It's impossible to cover SEO in 25 minutes but we'll get through a lot. It'll be a bit rapid-fire but you'll leave with specific strategies to get your site to rank better on the search engines. I will also bring handouts with much of the information laid out for future reference. Those handouts will NOT be posted on our meetup page afterwards so you have to attend the meeting to get them.
Kimberly Pointer will be covering SEM. She graduated from the University of Portland in 2004 with a BBA in Accounting and a minor in Psychology. After college, she worked for Moss Adams LLP as a financial statement auditor, and then for Umpqua Bank as an internal auditor. Later, Kimberly found her calling with Search Engine Marketing (SEM), as it marries both analytical and creative thinking. Currently working for Organic Bouquet in San Francisco, Kimberly specializes in web and cause marketing.
Kimberly Pointer will be discussing the basics of Search Engine Marketing and why it’s an essential component of any successful business plan. Specifically, she'll focus on Google AdWords and will illustrate exactly how the program works and how to optimize your results. In addition, Kimberly will tie in the current financial crisis facing business owners and how to best leverage online campaigns during this difficult economic time.
*** Bring business cards!! ***
We'll be doing our usual introductions during the first half of the meeting, followed by a 15-minute networking break. You're also welcome to bring flyers and promotional material for the front table.
Thank you.
Patrick.
