Come and be transported to the land of the rising sun. Take in the aesthetic of traditional Japanese dining & entertainment. This month, we'll be blessed with the presence of Tomoe Kumashiro- the Japanese outreach coordinator for UTSA. She'll be demonstrating for us a Japanese tea ceremony, as well as performing some traditional music on the koto. So come out with us, eat, have fun at our second monthly social.
Normally, we would be unable to host any kind of private event at Fujiya Japanese Garden. So, we are asking that everyone in attendance would extend their patronage & make some kind of purchase. We'll be ordering from the full menu, allowing you to order lunch or dinner portions.
I know that an afternoon event is out of the ordinary for everyone, but it is quite an auspicious occasion. There should certainly be enough time for you to rearrange any prior engagements you may have, so that you will be able to join us. We certainly want to establish a good rapport with both Fujiya and Ms Kumashiro. We hope to involve them in more events to come. Given that the theme of the afternoon will be Japanese culture and tradition, it's encouraged that anyone who may have some appropriately themed attire would dress up for the occasion. In short, kimono are welcome (or some other historic/traditional/martial arts themed cosplay of Japanese origin).
