I prefer to play strategic board games with low emphasis on luck and high emphasis on involvement. Shorter games (30 to 90 minutes) games are now my preference. Normally, the shorter the game the more fun they are (albeit involving less skill). The medium length, skill-based games that I prefer include Power Grid, Stone Age and Dominion. Longer games easily get bogged down, so while I like some of them a bit, like Sceptre of Zavandor and Agricola, I'd normally prefer to give them a miss, because one bad early decision can put you in the position of a watch-checking spectator. Fun games that I prefer include the 10 Days games, Hearts (the card game), Apples to Apples, Niagara, Tongiaki, Turn the Tide, Robo Rally, and Race for the Galaxy. However, since there is minimal skill required in these and a high luck quotient, I don't count these too highly when comparing notes on who has been performing well recently.
Hi, I'm Geoff.
