20930 Lake Ridge Drive, Boyds, MD
This park is lovely all year round, but best in Spring and Fall.
I would like to propose a Saturday or Sunday walk of anywhere between 4 and 7 miles. Difficulty level is Easy, with a choice of paved paths, natural trails or a combination of both.
The Nature Center is a good place to start and finish. (Plenty of parking, toilets, vending machines, boat rental, butterfly garden, bird feeders, tons of information.) From the Nature Center, there is about a mile of paved path before getting to the natural trails. I would recommend that we do this during warmer months and finish up the activity with a pleasant paddle on the lake, followed by a picnic or even better, a detour to Sugarloaf Winery a few miles up the road.
If those interested would prefer to keep away from civilization, we can start near the entrance of the park at the maintenance sheds. There are about 10 miles of natural trail on this side of the park.
Since this is my "backyard" I would be happy and willing to be hike guide.
Park policy - as with all parks - is that dogs must be leashed. The park is patrolled by Park Police, especially the popular paved paths. I walk the naturals surface trails most weekends and very seldom see another soul.
