Introduction

I am at home so have a lot of time with Shadow. My husband had dogs growing up in Wisconsin but has not had a dog in over 40 years. At 55 years of age this is my first dog. We are excited to have Shadow at the empty nesting stage of live.

Please describe the dog(s) you own: name, breed, age, sex, etc... so we can get to know a little more about our new pack member(s)!

Shadow is a neutered German Shepard Mix puppy. He was born March 8th, 2011 and was recused from the Tucson, AZ Humane Society. My sister adopted Shadow, as a companion, shortly after the passing of her husband. She discovered taking on the responsibility, of a puppy, was a decision made to early. Instead of having Shadow return to the shelter my husband and I flew him to Virginia, to be part of our family. He is a wonderful addition. He spent 3 weeks in Bowie, MD at a trainers and now my husband and I are learning to be Alpha Dogs!!!

What are you looking for in a trail club? Describe what you hope to get out of the group and what can you contribute to the group.

Mike and I look forward to good fun and stress free exercise for Shadow as well as us. We look forward to socialize and learn from others how to raise Shadow. We would like to help with animal rescue in anyway we can.

What does your ideal day outdoors involve? Please give the name and location of your favorite local hike or walk and describe the trail for us. Is it rocky, is there much elevation change, does it involve water, etc...

Mike and I have biked on the Mt. Vernon trail, and W&OD Trails. We have not done hiking in VA but we were great hikers when we lived in Germany for 7 years and did many Volksmarch. We would love to be introduced into this area and seen what it has to offer.

Have you and your dog(s) earned any titles or are you working towards any titles? Agility, Canine Good Citizen (CGC), working dog, pack dog, water dog, therapy dog, etc... ???
