Hello. My name is Alex. Very nice to meet you :-) Let's see I grew up in NJ, I'm in the Air Force and have lived in OH, NV, NM, OH, and now VA. I've lived here since 2006 and it looks like I'll be here fpr another four years.
Ernie is a 7yo male Rottie mix. Based on the DNA test he is ... wait for it ... Predominantly Rottweiler mixed with Labrador/Basset Hound/Toy Fox Terrier. I grew up with a Irish setter and at one time shared my life with 4 dogs totaling 300+ lbs
I'm mostly looking to spend time out in the woods with Ernie off-leash, so most of the hikes I organize will be just that. And of course I do like meeting new people. I'm not much of a backpacker but I do enjoy a good car-camp + hiking.
I really like the area around Goods Mill Landing. Right on the water. There are several good places to hike around it and there is even the chance for some kayaking with Ernie in the Kayak. No canoes for me though, I don't need more scars :O haha
I believe Ernie would make a wonderful therapy dog, unfortunately he is too new dog reactive. But don't worry he calms down once he realizes your dog will leave him alone and ignore him. He's a 100% people dog.
Why should you join? Because the guilt will eat you up inside every time you look at your puppy if you don't >;-)

Hey Alex,
I thought I sent a message to you when i rsvped about hopping in your car, but I don't see the message anywhere? Did you get it? Can you touch base with me today?
I'm so sorry we missed your meetup this past Saturday! The weather was perfect and you had a great bunch of 2 and 4-legged friends. I'm going to have to check my email/calendar more frequently because the last I saw scheduled was a hard hike about 4 hours drive from our home. Scott's Run looked much closer and easier for our first foray with the group. Hope to meet up soon!
Hi Alex - I tried to reply to your email of 3/15 but for some reason the reply wouldn't go through. FYI, I followed your instructions and did indeed see the two mailing lists. Now that I'm back in town, knee is close to healed and weather is warming I plan to start organizing (easy) hikes again. Hope you're well - all the best, Agi
hi Alex, can i recommend the we have a group text setup that you can possibly txt to cell phones if the Saturday hike is Overcome By Evens if the weather does not cooperate? it will be easier than having to login since some of us have to set out for the road at 0600 to be on time at the trail head. :)
Hi Alex: I was in a car accident & had to cancel my reservation. THANKS for the car pool offer. Margarita
Hi Alex: May I car pool with you? I live in Alexandria also.... just moved here from Miami and do not know the area well. Thanks, Marg
Whatever dude. No knocking my awesome Mac. Even if the hard drive, logic board, and "SuperDrive" have all been replaced in the last year...
sorry i haven't actually been able to make anything. this trip to luray just sounds awesome. unfortunately, sindah is not really up for hiking these days. she has done really well post-amputation
